Twined-Knitting Cast-On
Holding both ends of a center-pull ball tog with CC yarn (three yarns total), make a slipknot and place on
needle. (Slipknot does not count as a st.) Make a loop of CC around your left thumb. Loop the working yarns
around the base of your right little fi nger.
- *Insert needle between CC and your thumb.
- Wrap working yarn closest to you around needle.
- Put CC back over needle and pull it snug—1 working yarn st. Rep from *, alternating working yarns,
until all sts are CO.
closer to the ball will be overtwisted. After a while it
will get harder and harder to knit, and you need to
untwist the yarns. When this inevitably occurs, make a
half hitch around the ball with the working yarns. This
makes it possible to hold the yarn ends up and let the
ball untwist itself. When you have too little slack left,
just undo the half hitch, pull out some more yarn, and
make a new half hitch.

Notes
- These mitts are worked in the round from the
cuff up using the twined-knitting technique. - The mitts have quite a snug fit. Check the mitt
measurements, your measurements, and your gauge.
If necessary, change to a larger or smaller needle.
