Arabian Horse World – August 2019

(sharon) #1

INTERNATIONAL B SHOW
also shown, a horse tracing right
back to one of Rolf Ismer’s
original foundation mares, as
well as his lovely German
National Champion daughter, IS
Et Tu. But, this being the Ismer
Stud, it wasn’t just horses.
Resident circus trainer Miguel
Frank presented his amazing
show of three camels and three
Arabian stallions performing at
liberty, and, for the grand finale,
Elvis Errani from Italy and his
three Indian elephants took
center stage, showing what has
made them win prizes in the
Circus world. This was a very rare
honor indeed, as the elephants
spend their “summer vacation” at
the Ismer’s zoo and are not
normally asked to give
performances. It was a
breathtaking show that bore
testimony to the close bond of
trust between these three
heavyweight ladies and their
owner and trainer.
As for the Arabian shows, the
biggest change this year was
that the order had been
reversed: the International
B-Show came first on the
Saturday, followed by the
European C-Show on Sunday. In
the past, the C-Show had come
first, providing the opening act,
so to speak, for the main event,
the International B-Show. But
then, the C-Show once used to
be limited to German horses and
so small that it only took half a
day, the B-Show already starting
on Saturday afternoon. Since it
was changed to a European
C-Show a few years ago, those
days are definitely past. The
concept of a show open only to
horses whose owners are citizens
of European countries has
proved highly popular, with the
number of entries going up as a
result. Now it is just as big as the
B-Show, and this year the
decision was made to switch the
order. “We believe that European
breeders should be supported,”
explained Dr. Nils Ismer, who is a
founding member of the
European Breeders Trust. “So we
wanted to put the European
show more in the focus.”
So the B-show opened
proceedings on this unusually
damp and drizzly weekend. This
was also a novelty, as in past
years the show usually had
scorching summer weather and
everyone got sunburn. But at
least it didn’t really rain, just
generally overcast. The show
featured entries from 15
countries, with the largest
contingent coming from the
Emirates (15), followed by Poland
“THERE WERE THREE NAMES THAT DOMINATED
THIS SHOW: DUBAI ARABIAN HORSE STUD, PAOLO
CAPECCI, AND FA EL RASHEEM.”
