The Big Bomber or is it?
T
he announcement of the Handley
Page 0/400 at ScaleModelworld
2018 surprised many and it was
also quite a shock to see that this World
War One Bomber actually dwarfed the
Lancaster sitting next to it on display.
At Chattanooga Wingnut had the latest
test shot which
showed the level
of detail that the
inal production
kit will have. And
in answer to all
those who queried
how you could
store such large
models they also
had an example
on display with
its wings folded
which should solve that problem.
Another surprise at the show is that
we will also have a further release of
the HP 0/100 as well as an American
built O/400 with Liberty engines.
Almost ready for Christmas
A
lmost complete examples
of two Avro Lancaster
kits were on display and
we have been informed that
barring any unforeseen setbacks
they will be ready for a 2019
release. One of the models on
display had all the internal parts
visible, which revealed just how
detailed the internal areas of the
model will be. I was particularly
impressed with the complete
navigator’s compartment (even though
this will be almost impossible to see). All
of the areas that will be visible with the
crew door open are also very well detailed,
which includes representation of the Elsan
toilet just behind the rear gunner’s turret.
