Just read the August magazine —
brilliant as usual, and a great feature on
Davey Farrell’s Granada Ghia X. It
reminded me so much of my Dad’s
final car which was identical spec right
down to the colour — which brings me
to the reason for my email. His car was
Glacier Blue and unless I have gone
colour blind overnight I’m sure so is
Davey’s car. Ford offered Caspian Blue
as an option at that time but was a
much darker shade of blue which was
also available on the Capri 2.8i Special
with a Strato Silver two-tone lower
finish, though I stand to be corrected.

It’s definitely Caspian Blue, though
as we can expect with Ford colours,
there are several versions.

Missing wheel
Very informative section on some great
wheels in the July issue, but no
mention of the Rostyle. Surely a Ford
favourite? Here’s a set on my Mk4
Cortina.

Missed the boat
I picked up some old copies of Classic
Ford in our local charity shop, and
reading a Mk2 Escort buying guide
from a 2002 issue, I think I might have
missed the boat — £850 for a two-
door Ghia?! 2002 doesn’t even seem
that long ago!

Just 17s
I read in one of your magazines that
someone were asking about fitting 17
inch wheels on a Mk2 Escort.
I’m running a set of 17 inch mags on
my 1.6 GL with 195/40R17 tyres and
I’ve got no problem with tyres rubbing
on the wheelarch. The handling seems
better, too. The body is still original — I
did not adjust anything on the car when
fitting the wheels. The only problem is
you can feel every little bump in the
road, but I’m OK with that.
