Even with an exceptionally complete run of model kits representing Ford
pickups (except for those most recent F-Series generations), gaps in the coverage still exist.
During the last four decades, aftermarket suppliers have tried to fill these openings. Examples include
Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland’s 1932 Cosed Cab pickup (the one shown here is still available new); the
mid-90s All American Models/R&D Unique 1936 Ford pickup; a mid-80s metal-and-resin repop of the AMT
1960 annual kit from Illinois Replica Miniatures; and the Holthaus 1957 F-100 transkit from the early 2000s.

The unfortunate omission of the 2004-
2014 and 2015-current F-150s (and 2017-current
SuperDuty) from the world of fully detailed model
kits is only slightly offset by Revell’s two simplified
F-Series Raptor kits. The 2014 first-generation
Raptor builds into a presentable, reasonably well-
detailed curbside model, albeit hindered by the
sticker decals. The 2017 Raptor is essentially an
unassembled dealer promotion with a few tampo-
printed graphics. In my opinion, the Ford Raptor
deserves a fully detailed model kit.
BOYD’S WISH LIST
Model car and truck manufacturers looking for new business opportunities in the world
of Ford pickups still have plenty of potential subjects. Here’s a quick look at some Ford
pickups that may deserve a fully detailed kit:
