MODEL CLUB SHOW 2019
OPENS ITS DOORS...

ow in its fi fth year, the local
show held by IPMS East Sussex
(aka, Hailsham & District Scale
Model Club) seems to be going
from strength to strength. Held
in Hailsham on the southern outskirts of the
picturesque South Downs National Park
close to the seaside town of Eastbourne,
this show serves the far South East as one
of the relatively few shows in that part of the
country. A large free car park and superb
light refreshments (tea and cake always go
down well with modellers!) are two defi niteattractions, as are the club stands showing
modelling skills from youngsters just entering
this hobby, to master modellers talking in
depth about their latest masterpieces. It was
clear to see the hobby seems to be thriving.
The host club members were highly visible
in their blue shirts throughout and offered a
friendly and warm welcome to all visitors and
exhibitors.
The open competition was very well
supported with a varied selection of types
and genres being entered in all categories
with high standards on show throughout.The tombola and raffl e were also very
popular with some great prizes up for grabs,
with the draw taking place alongside the
competition medal presentation at the very
end of the show.
This friendly show and competition
seemed to be very popular with both general
public and modellers alike,so much so that
it seems it may be fast outgrowing their
current venue so here’s hoping they can
continue to go from strength to strength for
