to a specific issue with the car). To get
the absolute most out of a ’55 Chevy
like our subject here, a rear four-link
setup in addition to Aldan American’s
coilover kit would be ideal—but not
absolutely necessary—for this simple,
budget-friendly upgrade kit.
This ’55’s lackluster handling and
suspension will soon be a thing of
the past thanks to Aldan American’s
coilover package. They can be fine-
tuned to deliver highly noticeable
spikes in suspension performance
for street driving or track scenarios—
there’s no need to settle for one or
the other. Get the best of both worlds
in one single, affordable component
package, and silence the naysayers
with your car’s newfound driving
improvements. CHP

ou may have heard whispers about coilovers providing a stiff ride quality
compared to other forms of suspension dampers, but we are here to put an
end to that general misconception. In the case of Aldan American’s particular
coilover offerings, quite the opposite can be expected when installed on your
car—whatever make or model it may be. Aldan’s professional-grade universal
coilover kits make the upgrade to better ride quality and handling as easy as
could be with straightforward bolt-on installation.
This particular 1955 Chevy was previously lowered, and the owner was
simply looking to improve function while keeping the existing ride height.
This wasn’t going to be a problem since Aldan’s coilovers are fully adjustable
when it comes to damping and ride height. The projected outcome in relation
to ride quality also includes better handling and enhanced ride quality in an
all-inclusive, affordable package that features single- or double-adjustable
coilovers (depending on your car’s exact need), high-travel coil springs,
polyurethane shock bushings with both 5/8- and 1/2-inch bore steel sleeves,
as well as Aldan’s own adjustable spanner wrench, which makes for easy ride
height adjustments.
For this specific kit for the ’55 Chevy, only coilovers for the front were called
for, and rear shocks since the car was still equipped with factory leaf springs
(the rear shocks were replaced with a complete coilover package post-story due
