58 CHEVY HIGH PERFORMANCE II NOVEMBER 2019

10 | The coilover units come complete with these
Torrington bearings that have to be properly lubed
before installation of the front coilover shocks. This
is an important step that should not be skipped, and
nothing but adequate grease should be used.

12 | The
coilover shocks
were then
considered
properly
prepared to be
installed in the
factory location
of the stock
equipment.

13 | The top portion of the coilover shocks were then secured and tightened
to spec.

09 | To accommodate the larger-diameter hardware provided in Aldan American’s coilover kit, the nut
plates in the spring pocket first had to be removed and the two appropriate holes were drilled out to
3/8-inch.

11 | After the Torrington bearings were slathered with a hearty helping of
grease, they were slipped over the threaded coilover body.

14 | Using a brand-new cotter pin (don’t even think of ever salvaging a used
pin), the ball joint castle nut was tightened and securely locked into position.
