The Downtime Option
1
On the Screen Time front page, tap
Downtime. Enter your passcode, and
if the feature is switched off, switch it on. As
you can see, by default Downtime applies to
every day.
4
At the foot of the Downtime screen is
a switch titled Block at Downtime.
When off, your child can ignore Downtime.
With it on, when their limit is reached they
have to request more time.
2
To change the time when Downtime
starts, tap From, and then set the start
of Downtime by dragging the number
wheels. Tap To and do the same to set when
Downtime turns off.
4
Your child gets a five minute warning
before Downtime activates. It arrives
as a notice at the top of the screen, as you
can see here. Your child can request more
time with the app they’re using.
3
Tap Customise Days and you can set a
different Downtime for each day in
the week, and even switch it off for some
days. Therefore, you can, for example, set
different times for weekends.
6
To approve an extension, take the
phone, enter your Screen Time
passcode and choose an option. If you have
Family Sharing set up, you can approve it
from your own phone.
