Truckin’ Life – August 2019

(Romina) #1

From her time as part of the Dead Ringer
Band with her family to starting her own
solo career, Kasey Chambers has always
endeared herself to Aussie country music
fans.
However 20 years ago, she released
her debut album, The Captain, which
rocketed her to music stardom and not
just country.
The outstanding album gave Kasey
exposure in mainstream music channels,
airplay on commercial metropolitan radio
and brought a legion of fans to her music
who may not otherwise have tuned into
country.
Now, Kasey is taking The Captain
back on the road in a special anniversary
tour which will see her and her band
performing songs not only from The
Captain but also what will amount to be a
best set as well.
The Captain featured tracks such
as the title track, Cry Like A Baby and
These Pines and brought together
Americana-styled musical influences

but still retained the essence of Kasey,
especially in her songwriting and as such

has a strong Australian flavor to it.
The Captain saw Kasey pick up her
first solo ARIA Awards, for Best Country
Album and Best Female Artist, the album
would go double-platinum in Australia,
reach the Top 50 of the US Billboard
Country albums and enabled Kasey to
launch her music to the world.
Supporting Kasey on the tour will be
singer songwriter Charlie Collins who
met Kasey in Tamworth early in The
Captain days.
Kasey will be touring regional Victoria
in September before heading to Lismore,
Brisbane and the Gold Coast. In October
she will head to Adelaide, Western
Australia, Tasmania, back to NSW and on
to the ACT.
A special commemorative The Captain
Delux Edition has been released to mark
the 20th anniversary and the original
album has also been released on vinyl for
the first time.

KASEY TOURS WITH

THE CAPTAIN

When it comes to touring, there’s
probably no one who has done as many
kilometres as Lee Kernaghan who is
currently on his Backroad Nation tour
promoting the album of the same name.
It’s his 15th studio album and
appropriately, Lee’s tour is taking him on
many back roads and to regional Australia,
bringing his brand of Aussie country to fire
up fans no matter where they are.

Touring is something Lee never gets
sick of and playing and meeting fans is
one of his great motivations, especially
with new music to perform.
“This album carries the sensation
of you get off the beaten track, it’s
definitely travelling music and ideal for
long journeys which is what I have been
doing,” Lee said.
The tour continues in September taking

in Queensland, Penrith and Canberra
before.
heading to South Australia, then back
to Broken Hill and onto the Deni Ute
Muster in October.
Lee will be supported by the Wolfe
Brothers and CMC Female Artist of
the Year, Christie Lamb. For tour
