ZONEOUT

THE GIRL

ON THE

TRAIN
THEATRE
It was one of the
most popular
crime thrillers of
2015, inspiring a movie
just a year later, so it’s no surprise
to see The Girl On The Train arrive
on the stage. And if you’re in any
doubt that the tension expertly
built up in the book can’t be
replicated in front of a live
audience, think again.
Samantha Womack (of
EastEnders fame) is brilliant as
lonely alcoholic Rachel, who
can’t quite break ties with her
ex-husband, despite him
remarrying. And when she finds
herself linked to the disappearance
of his neighbour, it suddenly
seems everyone connected to the

missing woman has something to
hide. If you’re a fan of the book,
the killer twist won’t come as
a huge surprise, but this is still a
suspenseful production – and it’s
touring the UK from this month!

You can never have too much
DiCaprio on one page, and
Leo’s iconic role as Jordan
Belfort is getting the immersive
theatre treatment this autumn.
Based on former stockbroker
Jordan’s memoirs, which
became the Scorsese movie of
the same name, the show is
coming to east London from
5 September. It promises to

“plunge audiences into the
highs and lows of Jordan’s
millionaire lifestyle, where
they’ll experience a world
of greed, power and excess”.
Audiences will be transported
to 90s New York, where super
cars and trader schemes will
be waiting for them.

ONCE UPON

A TIME IN

HOLLYWOOD

STARRING: LEONARDO DICAPRIO, BRAD PITT, MARGOT ROBBIE CERT: 18

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
It’s 1969, Hollywood, and former film star
Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) is desperate to revive
his flagging career. By his side is his long
standing driver and buddy, Cliff Booth (Pitt),
a former stunt man who fell out of favour
with the film industry after his wife’s
mysterious death.
Meanwhile, star of the moment Sharon
Tate (Robbie) has just moved next door to
Rick. Those with a nose for true crime will
know in real life Tate was murdered by

Charles Manson’s ‘family’ before she had
a chance to shine – and here we see his
terrifying cult take over Tinseltown...

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?
This is from the distinctive mind of Quentin
Tarantino – so violence, bad taste jokes and
a cracking soundtrack are guaranteed.
It is the first time that Leo and Brad have
starred together and they are brilliant in
their respective roles, with DiCaprio
chewing the scenery like only he knows

how, and Pitt playing it cool as the
nonchalant hard man. It’s essentially a
buddy movie, so those wishing for a retelling
of the Manson murders will be disappointed.
Charlie only appears once, briefly – though
his cult, led by a creepy Lena Dunham, do
take centre stage in one memorable scene.
