was a simple decision to construct
Hobby Design’s brass supports,
and these didn’t disappoint,
either from an assembly or detail
perspective, before being secured
to the vehicle.
When the music stops
Tamiya’s 1/24 Mercedes AMG
GT3 can be built into a delightful
model straight from the box, but
the aftermarket additions raised
the refinement to a whole new
level. It was a joy to construct,
thanks to Tamiya’s ability to
design a kit with enough detail,
almost perfect accuracy, flawless
moulding and an incredible fit.
It’s a shame it hasn’t been as
prolific in producing 1/24 cars as
in decades past. I for one eagerly
await the release of the 2018
Le Mans-winning Toyota
Hybrid TS050.
With the body 95% completed and
having fitted the glazing and headlamps,
it was ready to be mated to the body.
The kit’s body fasteners
were employed alongside
the supplied metal logos
front and rear; note the
considerable amounts of
carbon fibre detailing.
Replacement aerials were fitted to the roof: A+ Club MT-003 1/24 Super
GT antenna (B) and Sakatsu 3218 GPS antenna.
