THE LOST BATCH OF MUFFINS
It’s me again, looking for another old Harrowsmith recipe. Several,
actually. I Googled and it looks like others have asked for muffin
recipes from the same issue. It’s issue No. 71, and there was an entire
article with several muffin recipes and they were all good. Can I get
the whole bunch?

Editor’s note: I sent a smoke signal to our top Lost and Found Recipe
Ranger, Paula Lessard in Nova Scotia. I’d put all my chips on Paula to
find an ivory-billed woodpecker, a needle in a haystack and a long-lost
muffin article. And I was right! Jenny has been baking her way through
the recipes since! Jenny wrote to us last year looking for a sourdough
loaf recipe (which Paula found). Jenny replied, thrilled. “I lost pretty well
everything in the wildfires here in the Stikine Valley this summer, including
my 32-year-old starter and the very dog-eared Harrowsmith issue with
that recipe, so I am thrilled to have these pages back.”
FROM A LEGACY READER
While grocery shopping (ugh!) last week, I spotted the Spring 2019
issue of Harrowsmith by the checkout aisle. Of course I picked it up
and read it from cover to cover. (Absolutely loved the experience!)
I want you to know that your articles are interesting, relevant and
educational, and you still have a “thread” to the past for “legacy”
readers like myself!

Editor’s note: Thanks for your letter, Carm. I’m glad to hear that we’ve
“still got it” and not lost the nostalgic audience that we’ve tried valiantly to
retain while embracing new digital types and the odd millennial with goat
yoga fantasies!
