‘disappear’ and create a overall neater finish.

QYoumightfindit easiertousethecardandfoilmethodtopreparethe

flowerheadspriortoappliqué:Makea cardtemplatefortheflowerhead

byusingtheinnerlinefromthepattern.PlaceyourfabricpieceWS

upontoanaluminiumfoilsquare.Placethecardtemplateontopand

carefullyencloseit inthefoil,pressingtightlyallthewayround.Press

bothsidesofthisfoilpacketwell,usingyourirononthehighestsetting.

Carefully(itwillbehot!),unwrapyourfoilandtakeoutyourfabric

circle.If required,youcangiveyourfoldededgesanotherpress.It is

now ready to appliqué. This method can also be used for the leaves.

Whenyougettothetriangular

points,foldalltheexcessfabric

‘dogears’totheoppositesideyou

arestitching.Stopstitchingat the

actualpoint(Fig 11 ) and,usingthe

needlecarefully,foldorrollthedog

ears under the open edge(Fig 12 ),

continuestitchingdown to enclose

the excess fabric.
