Sibthorpe’s 1946 MGTCshoweda
clean pair of heels to circuit special-
ist Adiel van Hecke (1939 MG TA
Special). The Tourisme class had a
more Gallic hue, with Vincent and
Céline Auboin fighting in their
Renault 4CVs; Vincent prevailed.
And had Jean-René Popot’s ’72
Formula Renault FR2M not hit
problems, the Monoplace class
outcome might have been different

  • instead Raymond Adam (1972

“I started in April 2017, so I’m
still a newbie. At first I didn’t
have a clue what to do – some
would say nothing much has
changed! – but the other drivers
pointed me in the right direction;
they’re brilliant and very
welcoming. My XJ started life
as a police car in Manchester,
and it’s already taken me to a
class win – I was so emotional
that I came off the track on
the cooling down lap, all rather
embarrassing. The class battles
are very tight and I have the
best time racing with the JEC.”
