BROOKS BOUQUET
Brooks bouquet is a hand-manipulation technique for wrap-
ping warp threads with weft. It can be done on a closed
shed (as in the Brooks bouquet sequence on this poncho) or
in an open shed (as in the single Brooks bouquet in the huck
lace sequence on this poncho). Using a small shuttle or net-
ting shuttle will make the process easier.
CLOSED SHED
1 Place the shuttle under the warp
threads you wish to wrap.

2 Pull the shuttle up and out of the
warp threads from underneath.

3 Insert the shuttle behind the
same threads you passed under in
steps 1 and 2. Draw the weft
thread through and pull snug. This
creates the bouquet.

4 Work across the row until you
reach the opposing edge. Open
the next shed of the treadling,
weave a pick, and beat.

OPEN SHED
1 With the shed open, pass the shuttle through the shed
and under the threads you want to wrap.

2 Pull the shuttle up and out of the shed through the top
of the warp.

3 Insert the shuttle behind the same threads you passed
under in step 1. Draw the weft through and pull snug.

4 Continue across the row in the same shed. Open the
next shed, weave a pick, and beat.
