Manchester United.
What’s your favourite football
illustration from your own work?
Any of my illustrations of Eric Cantona.
I did one recently responding to the
‘egg cracking’ video he posted on his
Instagram page.
How did you first get into football
illustration?
When you’re very young and a bit wet
behind the ears, you’ll have all sorts of
work in your portfolio just for the sake
of getting work. Anyway, I wanted to
get some more football commissions,
so I did a picture of Wayne Rooney to
put in my folio and put in on Twitter.
Edgar Davids saw it and wanted one of
himself. So I did one of Davids as well,
and he used it as his Twitter profile pic.
Soon after that, the now-defunct Sport
magazine asked me to do Gareth Bale
for their front cover.
What’s the best piece of commercial
work you’ve done?
An Umbro illustration depicting Roberto
Carlos’ outrageous free-kick for Brazil
against France at Le Tournoi in 1997. It
was a chance for me to do something
a bit different from what I normally do.
It was also the template for one of my
favourite illustrations of Diego Maradona,
which I did for FFT a few years ago.
