bathrooms, and meals. For residencies
from March 2020 through early June
2020, using only the online application
system submit 10 pages of poetry or 20
pages of prose, a project description, and
two letters of recommendation with a
$40 application fee by September 1. The
application deadline for fall residencies

Under the Volcano Master
Classes and Residency
The 17th annual Under the Volcano
Master Classes and Residency will be
held from January 9, 2020, to January
19, 2020, in Tepoztlán, Mexico, a village
located in the foothills of volcanoes
approximately one hour from Mexico
City. The conference features daily
master classes in poetry, fiction, and
creative nonfiction, as well as readings,
manuscript consultations, excursions,
time to write, and an optional two-week
with lodging and work space in a private
cabin, access to the center’s gardens and
library, as well as nearby mountains,
lakes, and waterfalls. The cost of the resi-
dency is $150 per week, or $50 per week
if the resident contributes eight hours
of work per week toward improving the
center. Transportation and meals are
not included. For residencies beginning
in March 2020, submit up to 20 pages
of poetry, fiction, or creative nonfic-
tion, a résumé, a statement of intent, and
contact information for one reference
with a $20 application fee. Applications

Ucross Foundation Residency
Program
The Ucross Foundation offers residen-
cies of two to six weeks during the spring
and fall to poets, fiction writers, and
creative nonfiction writers on a 20,000-
acre working cattle ranch in the foothills
of Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains.
and neighboring venues in downtown
Portland, Oregon. The festival features
writing workshops, panel discussions, a
book fair, and pop-up readings. The cost
of admission is $15 in advance and $20
on site for adults, and free for attendees
under the age of 17, high school students,
and military veterans. Paying attendees
receive a $5 voucher that is redeem-
able at the book fair. Workshops, which
include festival admission, are available
for up to $75. Registration is first come,
