with more modern motors
for its newer-generation
Mustangs that could send
that pushrod home with its
tail tucked between its legs.
Of course, we still love a
factory Fox-body, but it just
can’t compare with some of
Ford’s newer powerhouses,
such as the Terminator and
Coyote-powered cars. But
that doesn’t mean you can’t
have the best of both worlds.
The Fox-body platform has
proven to be perfect for a
modern engine swap for
those wanting that old-
school style while packing a
modern, powerful punch.
Jeffrey Harris of Dallas,

F

or many of us, the
Fox-body Mus-
tang brings back
waves of nostalgia.
We get taken back
to the good ol’ days that have
long since passed. If you
were lucky enough to own
a Fox-body 5.0L Mustang
during your high school
years, you have likely felt the
weight of envy from your
peers.
Let’s add that the push-
rod 5.0L was no joke in its

Speed Shop. He finally got
his hands on the car that he
has been dreaming of since
high school, a 1991 Fox-body
LX convertible. But this isn’t
your run-of-the-mill Fox-
body Mustang by any means.
Harris says, “This car
became available to me
through a friend of mine, so
we tossed keys and I gave up
a 1969 big-block Chevy C10.
After getting my hands on
the car, I began my quest to
build the car I never could
afford in high school—and
still can’t.”

Like many Mustang
owners, Harris wanted more
power from the get-go. Once
the car was in his hands,
the first thing he did was
throw in a built 347ci with
a Paxton Novi 2000 blower
and backed it up with a T-56
transmission. However, it
still wasn’t putting down
enough power for his liking.
“I turned to the motor I
am most passionate about,
the 2004 Cobra Termina-
tor. Swapping ensued,” he
tells us.
Now stuffed inside the
engine bay is a 2004 Termi-
