1 Using the same light source technique for Shadow effect 1,
draw a fine black line between the colour and the shadow
only.
2 If you wobble, carry on, don’t take your pen off until you
have completed that section. Trying to correct a line will be
very noticeable.
3 If you have wobbled anywhere go over and correct with
more of your main colour, it’s easier this way, and less
noticeable.
1 You don’t have to stick to a strict light source with your
highlights, but if your shadow is in a downward direction
then your highlight stays in the upper section of the letter.
2 Using a white pigment pen, draw a line at the upper left part
of the letter.
3 Add little dots at the end of the line.
technique 4:
shadow effect two
Sometimes just using a very fine
0.1 black fine liner between the
lettering and the shadow disguises
any feathering/leaking of colours and
neatens up the edge.
technique 5:
Highlighting
Highlights are usually always
using a white pen, they can be
lines or patterns, they always
finish off the lettering and make it
pop off the page.
