Gulf Coast
BARTHELME PRIZE FOR SHORT PROSE
A prize of $1,000 and publication in
Gulf Coast is given annually for a work
of short prose. Submit a prose poem, a
piece of flash fiction, or a micro-essay of
up to 500 words with an $18 entry fee,
which includes a subscription to Gulf
Coast, by August 31. Visit the website for
complete guidelines.
PRIZE IN TRANSLATION
A prize of $1,000 and publication in
Gulf Coast is given in alternating years
for a group of poems or a prose excerpt
translated from any language into Eng-
lish. The 2019 prize will be given for
prose. Submit up to 20 pages of prose
translated into English and a copy of
the original text with an $18 entry fee,
which includes a subscription to Gulf
