PLASTIC-FREE

PRODUCTS

We’re so used to plastic in our lives that it sometimes feels
like we don’t notice how much we actually use. In order to
cut down on single use plastic, we’re motivated to swop to
eco-friendly products. So, at the Beach Boutique we’ve got
a great range of household, beauty and travel products to
make life without plastic easier. From a plastic-free bathroom
to natural products for the kitchen and easy to use items
for travelling with, there’s beeswax wraps, reusable cups,
coconut scourers, soap bars, natural beauty products,
recycled and vintage clothing and lots more.
Take a look at our eco-friendly ranges at
surfgirlbeachboutique.com and give it a go!

THE REFILL RISE
More and more of us are taking stock
of our impact on the environment and
turning our backs on conventional
shopping methods. Going back to basics
and the way we used to shop generations
ago, we’re removing plastic from our
shopping bags, reusing, upcycling and
refi lling. Cue the rise of the refi ll store!
We caught up with the local refi ll store
in our HQ town of Newquay, Good Lyfe.

What to expect from refi ll store?
A refi ll store is a shop where you can
bring your own containers and fi ll them
with your basic necessities, such as
dried foods, herbs and spices, washing
up liquid, laundry liquid, shampoo, hand
soap and oils. The list is quite extensive.
It’s a pretty simple process: bring
in your container, weigh it, fi ll with the
product you want and then weigh again.
This means you only ever pay for the
amount you want. We are always happy
to help with this process, as it can be a
little daunting the fi rst time around.

Why should people shop in a refi ll
store?
The main and most obvious reason is to
reduce your plastic consumption. Single-
use plastic has become an enormous
problem, and awareness of this problem
has really heightened recently.
By using a refi ll store, you can really
reduce your plastic footprint. Even if you
start with one product, like washing up
liquid, that’s possibly 12 plastic bottles
per year saved from recycling or landfi ll.
And that is just one product from one
person... the potential reduction in single-
use plastic is incredible.

Can you refi ll old plastic bottles?
Yes! In fact, we positively encourage this.
We’ve had customers bring in plastic
bottles that they’ve found on the beach,
cleaned at home and refi lled.
