(Nandana) #1
GURU PUJA SPECIAL EDITION

Lord Shiva:
Guru bhaavaha param
teerthamanyartham nirarthakam
Sarvateerthamayam devi
shreeguroshcharanaambujam
Worshipping the Guru is the greatest pilgrimage.
All other places are meaningless in comparison
to his refuge. There is only one supreme altar,
where a disciple should offer his obeisance and
reverence– the holy feet of the Guru.
But, as I mentioned, people say, they feel happy,
peaceful, and satisfied by worshipping God in their
own style...
Lord Shiva:
Na sukham vedashaastreshu
na sukham mantrayantrake
Guroho prasaadaadanyatra
sukham naasti maheetale
The bliss is not attained by reading the Vedas
and Shastras. One cannot derive bliss even
through the mantras and other tools. On this
earth, bliss and ananda (a feeling of inner
satisfaction and peace) is nowhere except in the
gracious blessings of the Guru (which he
bestows in the form of Divine Knowledge on an
aspirant).
Okay, now I have fully understood your point;
from every angle, You are coming to the same
declaration...that– “A Guru IS NEEDED! 200%
needed! So in that case, Lord, now I am eager to
know who is a true Guru?
Lord Shiva:
Akhandaikarasam brahma
nityamuktam niraamayam
Svasmin sandarshitam yena sa
bhavedasyam deshikaha
The one who “shows” that infinite, indivisible,
partless, homogeneous, ever-free, and
untainted Brahman, the Supreme Lord, alone
should be hailed as the True Guru.
You mean to say, a Guru 'SHOWS' God?!? That's

really interesting and enchanting too! ...But, what if
someone is already following a Guru that does not
comply with this yardstick of a true Guru? I have
heard many people saying that changing a Guru is
a sin.
Lord Shiva:
Gyaanaheeno guru tyaajyo
mithyaavaadi viddambakaha
Svavishraantim na jaanaati
parashaantim karoti kim
One should forsake the Guru who lacks
knowledge, indulges in falsehood, and is full of
vanity. The one who is unable to find peace for
himself, how can he bestow it on others?
Ah! How logical that sounds! Your answer has
made everything crystal clear. Thanks Lord, for
shedding light on such a crucial subject. Now we
are all set to approach a True Guru and attain Atma
Gyan from him... and 'SEE' God face-to-face within!
Any message to the spiritual aspirants before
we conclude?
Lord Shiva:
Gururadevo gururadharmo
gurau nishthaa param tapaha
Guroho parataram naasti
trivaaram kathayaami te
Guru alone is the supreme deity. Guru alone is
dharma. Faith and devotion in the holy Guru is
the highest penance. There is nothing above
Guru– I declare this with force three times!
We are grasping these words and we promise
You, Lord, we will live these words in fullness! We
offer our salutations in your feet as well as in the
lotus feet of the True Guru!
[Note: All the answers that have been given by
Lord Shiva are His actual utterances quoted from
the holy scripture of Guru Gita (a conversation
between Lord Shiva and His holy consort,
Goddess Parvati.)] ||
