Moving to the passenger side of the car,
we thread the two supplied^7 ⁄ 16 -inch bolts
into the block. Note the flush fitment of
the bolts into the countersunk holes, as
well as the polished finish on the head
of the bolt—the Concept One kit has
excellent fit and finish.

The polished-aluminum crank pulley is
secured with three supplied Allen-head
bolts. This pulley does not require you to
remove the harmonic-balancer bolt; it has
a small flange that fits inside the lip of the
balancer.

Next is the Edelbrock aluminum water
pump (PN 8854), which is an integral part
of the Concept One Victor Series pulley
system. Install the supplied rubber O-rings,
then slide the water pump over the studs.

The first part of the Concept One Victory
Series pulley system are these studs, which
thread into the water-pump bolt holes. They
are supposed to only go^3 ⁄ 4 -inch into the
block, so we measured and used tape as a
guide.

Next is the driver-side main bracket, which
is a beautifully machined and polished. The
bracket sandwiches between the block
and water pump and uses rubber O-rings
to seal. Standard water-pump gaskets are
not used.

The main bracket slides over the water-
pump studs. Two^7 ⁄ 16 -inch bolts are used to
secure the bracket to the lower holes in the
block, while a single^3 ⁄ 8 -inch bolt threads
into the outer corner of the block to offer
additional strength.

add air conditioning while also upgrad-
ing to a high-performance water pump
and one-wire alternator. Knowing the
battle of pulley alignment and orches-
trating multiple V-belts, we looked for
an alternative solution. We also didn’t
want to increase the “wingspan” of
our big-block, as it already filled the
Camaro’s engine bay to capacity.
The idea of a compact accessory
drive system that used a single drive-
belt gave us lots of shopping options.
To narrow down the choices, we looked
at the accessories used in the kit, the
price point, and the design and came
up with a winner: the Concept One
Victory Series pulley system.
The Georgia-based company builds
pulley systems for several engine
combinations and offers four options in
the Victory Series to fit our big-block
Chevy. Concept One also offers basic
kits and Driver Series kits, with lots of
variations for alternator, air condition-
ing, and power-steering configurations.
We chose the BCV02 kit for our big-
block, which features brackets for air
conditioning and alternator, as we do

not plan to add power steering to our
Camaro project car. We opted for the
polished finish, although it is available
in machined, anodized black, and clear
finish.
The standard kit includes a Power-
master 105-amp one-wire alternator,
an SD7 air-conditioning compressor,
and a cast-finish Edelbrock aluminum
water pump, but most of these items
are upgradable. The beauty of the sys-
tem is the machined brackets, as they
simply bolt into existing holes in the
block and offer perfect alignment with
every item in the kit.
Starting with a blank canvas, we
spent about three hours installing
the kit. With the Concept One pulley
system, guesswork wasn’t part of
the equation; it was just a matter
of bolting the kit together using the
supplied brackets and hardware.
Take a look at the simple install of
the Concept One Victory Series pulley
system and see how it gave our big-
block a high-tech look while simplifying
the front-drive system with a single
accessory belt.

Before we got started with the installation,
we used a thread chaser in the bolt holes
on the front of the block. These were not
previously used on our engine, so the
thread chaser cleaned out years of paint
and gunk.
