May Day charity rideout and BBQ
T
his year, the Movin Targets and Bog
Rats Scooter Clubs teamed up with
Davy’s Bikes, Bangor, Northern Ireland,
for a charity fundraiser in aid of their local
Mountain Rescue Team and the wider
Community Rescue Teams.
Ten years ago, Mourne Mountain Rescue
team located a young boy who’d been missing
for several weeks – a situation which ended
tragically. The family of the boy is close friends
with both scooter clubs and is grateful for the
several annual fundraisers which are organised
on their behalf, with the proceeds going to the
rescue teams.
Both organisations work on a voluntary
basis, helping to find lost loved ones with the
hope of returning them to their families.
The May Day Bank Holiday was the chosen
event date with scooterists from all over the
province turning up at Belfast City Hall, the
rideout start location. The weather was a
mixture of all four seasons, but despite this
over 80 scooterists turned up for the rideout to
Bangor and then on to Davy’s Bikes, located on
the outskirts of the town.
On arrival everyone was kindly treated to a
free BBQ burger, which was
gladly received and helped
warm everyone up again! On
display at Davy’s were the latest Royal
Alloy and Lambretta scooters – not to
mention many other assorted scooters
and motorcycles, as well as a wide range of
helmets, gloves, jackets and accessories.
This event raised over £400 for charity and
the Movin Targets, Bog Rats and Davy’s Bikes
would like to thank everyone who attended and
generously donated.

eld in Zanka, Hungary, 5,000
scooterists from 40 nations attended
the most important gathering of Vespa
enthusiasts in the world.
The 13th edition of Vespa World Days was
held on the shores of Balaton Lake, and was
three days of friendship, adventure and love for
the Vespa scooter marque.
More than 3,500 Vespas paraded through the
streets of Zanka in every version and from every
era, representing as many national Vespa clubs
as possible from Europe, Hong Kong, Canada,
Israel, Japan, The Philippines, Australia and
Indonesia, amongst others.
Vespa World Days are held every year under
the auspices of the Vespa World Club, which
was established in 2006 and is the successor
to what was once Vespa Club d’Europe and
later the Fédération Internationale des Vespa
Clubs. There are now more than 49 national
Vespa clubs associated with the Vespa World
Club, which bring together thousands of
members from every nation.
In 2020 there will be two Vespa World Days
events: firstly in Guimarães, Portugal (July 2-5),
and also in Bali, Indonesia (July 23-25).
