LCGB SEAHOUSES

May 17-18

T

he LCGB Seahouses event is organised

by the LCGB as part of their annual ‘Best

Supporting Members’ event series.

This year I rode up to the event on the Friday,

along with my mate Didd from Skegness. Our

journey was a total of around 255 miles and

wasn’t without incident, as Didd’s Lambretta

suffered from lots of vibration (it didn’t help that

three fins were missing from his flywheel). Still,

as you do, break another one off to try to balance

it out – it seemed to be a bit better after that.

On arrival we set up the tent, then it was off to

the café for a bite to eat before moving on to our

evening entertainment.

In the early hours of Saturday morning we rang

for a taxi to take us home and then sent a text

for a taxi back to site – nothing arrived, so we

walked the 1.5 miles back.

Then whilst tucked up at 7am Saturday

morning we received a text from the taxi

company: ‘Where do you want to go, and when

do you want picking up?’ Doh!

The Saturday rideout day started at the ex-

serviceman’s club where we signed on for the

route and planning as to which way to go. The

ride ended up with the last sign-in at Bamburgh

Castle with time for an ice cream before riding

back to Seahouses. The total distance was

around 45 miles, mostly done on back roads,

sweeping bends and sharp corners, (although

Paul from L&N SCR detoured on one corner over

the grass verge on the other side of the road – at

least he kept upright!).

Later at the Saturday night do I was surprised

when the L&N SRC won the ‘Furthest Travelled

Club’ award – well done lads. As usual another

great LCGB rally.
