Farshid Moussavi
Architect
When we pay a visit to Farshid Moussavi,
the co-founder of Foreign Office Architects,
whose solo CV includes Cleveland’s Museum
of Contemporary Art and Victoria Beckham’s
Mayfair store, is wearing a pink Comme
des Garçons top. Yet she is more than happy
to change into a selection of Simone Rocha,
her pick for Best Women’s Fashion
Collection. Moussavi is a fan: ‘She plays with
form and structure, but adds femininity and
fun.’ Moussavi’s other favourite winner,
Heatherwick Studio’s Zeitz MOCAA, also
shows ‘real boldness and confidence’. Her own
latest project, the redesign of Harrods’
toy department, will call for an equally
strong statement. ‘The space has to be
stronger than the toys,’ she says. ‘And they
are really colourful.’ Nick Compton
