SAVE MONEY: GOOD HEALTH IS
PREVIEWED ON PAGES 56-

ask, “Can I just check something
with you?” We’re like a family on
This Morning and regularly
ask each other for advice.
Sometimes, I’ll even ask
Martin Lewis for PPI
information – and Gok
Wan for fashion tips!’

Be true to
yourself
‘When you’re
on a big show like
Strictly, it doesn’t
matter how many
cameras there are
and how many
people are
watching, you
just have to be
yourself. Don’t
try to play a role,
don’t try to act
up. And have
fun because
that’s what people
want to see.
‘I know people
who are absolutely
brilliant when the
cameras are off, but
as soon as filming
starts they shut down.
It’s so important to
forget the cameras are
there. Just be yourself and
show the world who you are.
That said, I still get some
nerves when I do live TV.’

You need a thick
skin in showbiz
‘The best thing about
being on TV is that I’m able to take
my day job out to millions more

people and help them in
a different way. That makes my
job so much more rewarding.
Getting positive feedback from
people really is the best part.
‘But with the positive always
comes the negative. If you put
yourself in the public eye, if you
stick your head above the parapet
and you have an opinion, there
will be people who love you for it
but there will also be people who
disagree with you. So you do get
a lot of praise, but you also get
a lot of criticism – and you have
to be able to accept both. It’s a
skill you just have to learn.’

Have fun and
feel fabulous!
‘We all work so hard and
sometimes we forget to take time
out for ourselves. But I’ve learned
to give myself a break and take a
bit of time for self-care. I always
say to people, “Make time for
yourself and do the things you
enjoy”. Make sure you get enough
sleep and make sure you get some
exercise, as those two things really
do affect your mood and mental
health. And don’t forget to have
fun, because you only live once.
‘I feel very fortunate to have
this incredible career in the NHS,
working with some wonderful
people, and that I get to marry
that with working on TV. I’m so
lucky and I pinch myself every day.
I’m just trying to make the most of
it. I’m living my best life!’
