resenter Carol Smillie’s infectious
smile and sunny personality helped
make the BBC’s home-improvement
show Changing Rooms a massive hit in the
1990s, drawing in highs of 11 million viewers.
But Carol told us that she was not going to
let TV cameras inside her home any time soon.
‘Because of the show, everyone is fascinated
by my house, but it’s strictly off-limits for
public consumption,’ she said.
Carol, who also fronted Hearts of Gold,
Holiday and Smillie’s People, had equally firm

I don’t go too fast and appear on everything
so people say, “God, she’s everywhere!”’Colleagues: Carol
