ABOVE One human-caused problem is that of feral dogs that are pervasive across the Changthang and have emerged as a signifi cant predator in the
Indian Trans-Himalaya in the past decade. A pack of feral dogs can bring down an adult kiang with ease.
TOP Kiangs share resources with other ungulates including bharal and Tibetan argali and even such endangered birds as the stunning Black-necked Crane.
Although the desiccated landscape of the Changthang appears barren, there are ample species of sedges, grasses, herbs and shrubs on which kiangs can forage.
