ate Shri Harishchandra Anand laid the
foundation for a long-lasting bond
between Punjabi Saraf and the city of
Indore in 1947. Known for its transparency
and quality, Punjabi Saraf has two grand
outlets in the city - one right at the heart of
the city at Bada Sarafa Bazaar and the other
at Racecourse road.

Sumeet Anand, Founder, Punjabi Saraf,
attributes the organization’s success to
honesty and good intentions, which have
been the retailer’s success mantras. “If you
have good intentions to serve, things rarely
go wrong. Your vibes and your store vibes
matter a lot. Ethics are more important than
anything. This has been the major reason
why we stand where we are today.”

Punjabi Saraf has won numerous
prestigious awards in the past such as the
Retail Jeweller Award 2007 for excellence in
jewelry retailing, Retail Jeweller Award For
excellence, 2008, a national award for Best
Single Store in Central India (East) for the
flagship store at 56 Dukan, Palasia, GJTCI
Excellence Award, the 3rd edition, National
Jewellery Award for the Best Digital/Social

“Your store vibes matter a lot”

Media Campaign of the year and many
more.

Offering a diverse range of jewelry styles
and designs such as bridal diamond jewelry,
bridal gold jewelry and collection like
Adam, Royal Jadkaari, Love Bonds, Forever
Mark , etc., all under one roof, Punjabi Saraf
seems to have left no stone unturned in its
efforts to give customers a wow experience.
“My customers should expect more every
time they visit the store. I always think on
behalf of a customer and that is why we
keep upgrading our services. For example,
valet parking was a luxury at one point;
today it is a need. So we try to add on new
things continuously.”

In terms of store design & visual
merchandising, Punjabi Saraf prefers a
minimalistic approach. “The idea is to keep
it classy and minimal, rather than going for
overselling or pushy sales. As for the team,
my wife handles the entire VM operations,
while for the store design we work with
Arjun Hablani from Hablani Architects pvt
Ltd.,” explains Sumeet Anand.

Built around the core principles of transparency and quality, jewellery retailer Punjabi Saraf, which was set up
in 1947, has today carved a distinct position for itself, having won some prestigious awards too.

With growing competition and competitive
prices, Anand believes the right kind of
solution providers should enter the market
as quality solutions are missing. “In the
jewelry business, there is a different kind of
competition today. Slashing margins has
become a huge challenge for us as cheap
competition brings down the margins.
There are many things to look at in this
industry such as the returns on investment,
rotation of stock, dead stock, etc. So we
need the right people to provide quality
solutions in the right time frame.”l
