but Liam is hot on his
trail. “When Thomas takes
Hope on a honeymoon,
that she doesn’t want to go
on, it gives Liam the per-
fect opportunity to snoop,”
says Scott Clifton (Liam).
“It certainly doesn’t make
him happy, but what I
really did enjoy was that
Liam puts his detective
hat on and starts using his
old computer IT research
skills. He’s looking things
up on the computer. He’s
making phone calls and
through this, I thought it
was really nice to remind
the audience that before
Liam was a billionaire heir
or tree-hugging, granola-
eating hippie, he was a
grunt IT guy who knew
computers and how to do
research.”
Thomas, meanwhile,
becomes unnerved when
he discovers that Liam is
doing some investigat-
ing. “Thomas wants to do
this nice thing for Hope,
but it’s not the romantic
getaway he’d imagined,”
relays Matthew Atkinson
(Thomas). “Basically,
Thomas just wants every-
one to stop talking, live
their own life and be
happy without interfering— but apparently, no one
wants to do that.”
The situation quickly
puts Thomas on edge. “At
this point, Thomas begins
a downward spiral of irra-
tional thoughts,” explains
Atkinson. “He’s deeplyleaving his mother for
another woman. Thomas
never wants his own
son to go through that,
and all of these factors
have combined to cre-
ate an irrational thought
process.”
The threat of what Liam
could uncover causes
Thomas to unravel. “With
Liam figuring things out,
you’ll see Thomas doing
things that are unchar-
acteristic of him,” says
Atkinson. “And, he stops
being as smart as he has
been. He’s losing it, and
he’s not thinking things
through the way he has
been. Before this, he’d
see things two to four
moves ahead. Now, he’s
not seeing what’s happen-
