CUT FABRICS
Cut pieces in the following order.

From each solid blue, solid yellow,
and solid green, cut:
■ 2—5^1 ∕ 2 × 171 ∕ 2 " rectangles
From white floral, cut:
■ 3—5^3 ∕ 4 ×21" rectangles
From blue floral, cut:
■ 4—6×10" rectangles
From solid red, cut:
■ 3—6×18" rectangles
From each white print and pink
print, cut:
■ 1—15^1 ∕ 2 × 171 ∕ 2 " rectangle
From teal floral, cut:
■ 1—5^3 ∕ 4 × 171 ∕ 2 " rectangle
■ 2—5^3 ∕ 4 × 151 ∕ 2 " rectangles
From muslin, cut:
■ 2—20×22" rectangles
■ 1—10×66" rectangle
From batting, cut:
■ 2—20×22" rectangles
■ 1—10×66" rectangle

ASSEMBLE BAG BODY
Measurements include^1 ∕ 4 " seam
allowances. Sew with right sides together
unless otherwise stated.
Press seams in directions indicated
by arrows on diagrams. If no direction
is specified, press seam toward
darker fabric.

1 ) Referring to Diagram 1, lay out one
solid blue, one solid yellow, and
one solid green 5^1 ∕ 2 × 171 ∕ 2 " rectangle
in three rows. Join rows to make bag
front panel. The panel should be
151 ∕ 2 × 171 ∕ 2 " including seam allowances.
Repeat to make bag back panel.

2 ) Sew white floral 5^3 ∕ 4 ×21" rectangles
together along short edges to make a
side strip. The strip should be 5^3 ∕ 4 ×62"
including seam allowances.

3 ) Layer bag front panel, batting
20 ×22" rectangle, and a muslin 20×22"
rectangle; baste. (For details, see
Finishing, page 100.) Repeat with bag
back panel, then repeat using side
strip, batting 10×66" rectangle, and
muslin 10×66" rectangle.

4 ) Quilt as desired. Designer Jessie
Zeigler machine-quilted a chevron
design across each panel and
horizontal lines^1 ∕ 2 " apart on the
side strip.

5 ) Cut quilted side strip into the
following pieces:
■ 1—5^3 ∕ 4 × 171 ∕ 2 " rectangle (bottom
panel)
■ 2—5^3 ∕ 4 × 151 ∕ 2 " rectangles (side panels)
