11 ) Fold unit so remaining long edge of top side
panel aligns with top right corner of unit
(Diagram 7). Sew on drawn line as before.
Repeat with bottom side panel, aligning it
with bottom right edge of unit.

12 ) Pinch unit so a short edge of bottom
panel aligns with marked short edge of
side panel. Sew on drawn line. Repeat
with remaining side to make bag body.

13 ) Cut and piece solid red 6×18" rectangles
to make
■ 2—6×22" rectangles

14 ) Fold a solid red 6×22" rectangle in half
lengthwise with wrong side inside; press
and open (Diagram 8). Fold each raw edge
in toward center crease; press and fold in
half again. Topstitch^1 ∕ 8 " from long edges
to make a handle. Repeat to make second
handle.

15 ) Referring to Diagram 9, align raw edges
of a handle 3" from each side seam on
bag front panel, making sure not to twist
handle. Baste handle ends in place. Repeat
to attach second handle to bag back panel.

ASSEMBLE LINING
1 ) Repeat Assemble Bag Body, Step 8,
page 37, to mark^1 ∕ 2 " seam allowance
on teal floral 5^3 ∕ 4 × 151 ∕ 2 " rectangles and
53 ∕ 4 × 171 ∕ 2 " rectangle to make lining side
panels and lining bottom panel.

2 ) Repeat Assemble Bag Body, steps 9–12,
beginning on page 37, to sew lining
bottom panel to white print and pink print
151 ∕ 2 × 171 ∕ 2 " rectangles to make lining unit,
and then to attach teal floral lining side
panels to unit to make bag lining.

FINISH BAG
1 ) Insert bag body into bag lining, with right
sides together and aligning side seams; pin
(Diagram 10).

2 ) Sew around top edge using^1 ∕ 2 " seam
allowance, leaving 6" opening and
backstitching at beginning and end of
seam. Turn bag right side out through
opening. Topstitch^1 ∕ 8 " around top edge
to close opening and complete bag.
