SPOTLIGHT

What’s on your
desktop today?
A funky blue(ish) gradient so I
can pretend that I’m looking at
the sky rather than staring at a
digital screen.

What do you have
on the walls?
Dinosaurs, beer magazines and abstract
art (drawn caricatures of the group),
with the occasional bit of plant foliage
thrown in.

What will you do
for lunch?
Eat a sad sandwich, while looking out
the window at everyone else in the pub
across the road.

What hours do
you work?
It’s usually 9:00-5:30 but
this can vary depending on
what types of projects are currently
being worked on.

What else do you
do in the office?
Try to drown out the screams from the
daily lunchtime FIFA matches.

How often do you
all hang out?
We have a pretty good culture so most
Fridays there’s something going on.
Usually, drink related.

Describe your office culture in
three words
Quality, chaos, contained.

With its redesign of Briggs Hillier’s site, Framework produced something with a crystal-clear UX that really
showed why the brand was different to others in the creative POS and retail design space

development. The client also gained a
huge following and their conversion
rates went through the roof.
The TEK project was very organic,
which was what it needed to reach the
level it did. However, not all projects
work with an organic approach, so in
some instances we take a systematic
approach to achieve what we set out to
do, such as for Briggs Hillier.

So what happened with Briggs Hillier?
HS: Briggs Hillier Design works in the
creative POS and retail environment
space, which requires an eye for detail
and working to a tight timescale. Their
goal was to achieve a cleaner website
with a simple yet effective user journey.
So the first few stages, especially UX and
design, were extremely important.
To stay on track, we produced timing
documents, which outlined every little
detail of the project. Although a lot of
the stages were similar to TEK, Briggs
Hillier gave a stricter brief and we had to
find a solution that fitted it. This
included both the website design and the
team photography. We shot promo
videos, carefully curated content and a
lot more to ensure the studio’s
personality came across as they wanted.
We were able to achieve a new website
with a crystal-clear UX that really

showed why Briggs Hillier was different
to others in their sector. We know it’s
cheesy to say but we look at every
project as a partnership and love
having a strong relationship with all
our clients, which is why we strive to
deliver the best every single time.

How would you describe the studio
environment at Framework?
SH: We’ve fully designed and built our
studio from the ground up, so it’s a
perfect representation of what we are.
Everything from the artwork to the
seating and the social area has been
created just for us, by us.
The bottom line is if you feel at home
while you’re at work, you’ll produce
better work. The atmosphere of the
studio feels welcoming, laid-back and
homely. Especially with the dedicated
social area, where it can get a little
competitive on the PlayStation during
lunch and after hours.

What’s it like being based in
Nottingham, UK?
LB: It’s perfect! Not only do we have
nine pubs per square mile – not to
mention Batman’s house – we’re in the
heart of the UK and when we need to
travel for a shoot or to consult on a
project, we are perfectly poised to react
