Josip took this image at Lago Trasimeno
in Umbria and initially wasn’t going to take
his camera with him, but his girlfriend
persuaded him to. Of course he’s very
grateful, as it rewarded him with this
beautiful sunset, full of wonderful warm
pastoral tones and it even has a dream-like
quality to the finished product.

(^06) THE LAST LANDING BY JOHN MIHOPULOS
John says: “I was lucky enough to be able
to shoot the famous dalmation pelicans at
Lake Kerkini, Greece, earlier this year. The
day was cloudy, but this totally changed
in the evening, with the sky turning
beautifully golden. I used a fast shutter
speed to freeze this gull coming in to land.”

Liz tells us: “In January the sun rises slowly
giving lots of opportunities for fabulous
sunrise images. On this day winter storms
away to the north created rolling breakers
along the local beaches. I was so busy
trying to catch the perfect wave that I
didn’t notice the gulls flying overhead.”
