WHERE ARE YOU KNITTING?

Carole’sNordicjumper

Our easy-knit blanket
from issue 186 was
Carolyn’s top choice

NORDIC CHALLENGE
In 1990 we moved to Norway. One day
my husband turned up, to my horror,
with a knitting pattern and the wool to
knit him a Norwegian sweater but all
the instructions were in Norwegian!
Somehow I muddled through (even
the coloured bands were knitted in)
but the worst part for me was having to
cut and steek the armholes. Sadly the
style looks rather dated now, but
I live in the hope it will come back into
fashion again some time soon!
Carole Mooney, via email
We think it’s got many miles in it yet,
Carole. It’s a huge accomplishment!

BABY BLANKET
This is the blanket I knitted from Simply
Knitting’s Just for Baby pattern booklet
from issue 186. I used a mixture of wadding
and fabric to line the blanket. I found the
pattern easy to follow because it is made in
individual squares, so it meant that I could
easily pick it up a put it down again.
I’m rather pleased with the finished project!
Carolyn Smith, via email
You should be pleased, Carolyn – it looks
very soft and just perfect for baby!

FLORIDA, USA
Here I am with what I call my knitting bible in Florida!
I was having a look at the projects to check how much
wool I needed for my holiday knitting. The ladies in the
shop loved looking through my copy of Simply Knitting
magazine while I shopped. Every time we go out, my
husband drives while I knit away! I managed to make
two baby cardigans on this year’s holiday. Thank you for
another fabulous edition.

We’re all a bit jealous of
that sunny background!
