Kirstie

How long have you been
making cards?
Approximately four years.
Are there any other crafts
you enjoy?
I like to cross-stitch, knit and
sew. I have made curtains,
fancy-dress out ts for my
children and bridesmaid
dresses, jackets and matching
bags for my friend’s wedding.
Do you have a favourite
cardmaking occasion?
Not really, I just like creating
something to make the recipient
smile and feel that is has been
made just for them. I take
great satisfaction in making
something a bit different
whatever the occasion.
What are your favourite
products/techniques?
I like die-cutting and using the

card, a statement box card

die to découpage a picture. I

rubberstamping and using
colours to create a design.
What are your crafting
aspirations?
To keep tinkering with different
crafting techniques, and
to continue improving my
abilities to create something
a bit different. There is always
something to learn, try or
improve and, as a member
of the Design Team, I can pass
on this knowledge onto other
crafters.
Do you have any crafting words

of wisdom?
Set some time aside, grab a
cuppa, get creative and see
what happens. Don’t worry
about the outcome and get lost
in the process, but don’t give in
if it doesn’t go to plan, some of
the best creations just happen –
so keep crafting!
How does it feel to have won?
Amazing, I had a look through
the work of last year’s winners
and thought “I’m not good
enough really, but why not
have a go?” I never thought I
would actually be a winner – I
was totally shocked when I
found out.
