Diagram, lay out blocks, cream

tone-on-tone 1^1 ⁄ 2 × 121 ⁄ 2 " sashing

rectangles, and black tone-on-tone 1^1 ⁄ 2 "

sashing squares in 11 rows.

Cut and piece remaining cream

tone-on-tone 2^1 ⁄ 2 ×42" strips to

make:

▫ 2—2^1 ⁄ 2 × 811 ⁄ 2 " border strips

▫ 2—2^1 ⁄ 2 × 771 ⁄ 2 " border strips

Sew together pieces in rows. Press

seams toward sashing rectangles.

Join rows to make quilt center; press

seams away from block rows. The

quilt center should be 77^1 ⁄ 2 " square

including seam allowances.
