KEYSMART PRO / £54.99 inc VAT

SUPPLIER amazon.co.uk

The KeySmart Pro in is an unusual keyring design, in
that it provides tracking and locator features, while not
quite being as good at holding keys as a regular keyring.
It stores keys in two ways.
The first is via a loop on the back through which you can
hook a regular keyring, which is ideal for car keys and other
devices that might, while still technically being keys, don’t
fit the traditional shape. Keys that do fit the usual shape
are stored inside the body of the device. You unscrew the
end, remove one of the many fiddly little washers from
the inside and hook the key into place. It’s a bit of hassle,
and the washers will easily go missing, but at least you
only have to go through this process when adding keys.
Once added, the keys swing out like the attachments on a Swiss
Army Knife, as demonstrated by the included bottle opener, and
there’s the option to add other gadgets as well, with space for ten
items. This arrangement is fine, but it feels a little more effort than

just having your
keys on a chain. The
best part of the KeySmart Pro
is that it includes a tracking system –
it’s the same one found on the Tile keychains,
and it allows you to follow your keychain via GPS, or
sound an alarm on it from your phone.
You can also sound an alarm on your phone with your keys, if
that’s an appropriate reaction to your situation. What makes the
KeySmart especially good with regards to the tracker is that it also
has a micro-USB charging port, where most similar systems rely
on disposable batteries. There’s also an LED, so you can see where
you’re aiming your key in the dark.

PRIVISE WEBCAM

COVER/ £6.90 inc VAT

SUPPLIER amazon.co.uk

The front-facing webcam has been a standard piece of equipment
in laptop PCs for years, and stories about what can happen if
somebody takes control of it are almost as old as the inclusion of
said device. The traditional solution is a piece of tape, but the Privise
offers a more refined solution. Instead of simply taping over the
webcam back and forth, the Privise Webcam Cover is a little sliding
door with an adhesive back.
It fits snugly over normal-sized webcams, or even selfie smartphone
cameras (case notwithstanding), and provides a cover with a clean
opening and shutting action, despite its relatively tiny size. You also get
three of them in a pack, so you’ve got spares. Securing a webcam in this
way can feel embarrassingly paranoid, but if you’re going to do it, this is
a good, unobtrusive method, and it has the added bonus of protecting
your webcam lens at the same time.
