SEAGULL ... HEADS UP!
Brighton’s Glenn Murray has stated his belief that
mental health is more important that physical fitness
as the striker sat down with team-mate Dan Burn and
former midfielder Steve Sidwell to discuss the 'Heads
Up Weekends'. The English FA and the Heads Together
campaign team up to open a conversation on mental
wellbeing, a project that hopes to see more footballers
discuss their emotions when feeling depressed or
anxious. And Murray, together with his Seagulls
compatriots, has asserted that it does not matter how
well you train ahead of a match if your head is not in the
right place.

WE KNOW YOU KNEW
Manchester United have reported The Sun to the
Independent Press Standards Organization (IPSO),
accusing the publication of knowing about the january
attack on Ed Woodward's home in advance. United's
executive vice-chairman had his house in Cheshire
targeted by a group wearing balaclavas on January 28,
with flares thrown onto the property and graffiti spray-
painted onto the front gate and intercom. United believe
that The Sun received prior notice of the attack, and have
accused a journalist from the company of being present
to document the vandalism as the incident took place.

YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOSE
Gabriel Martinelli is reveling in the success he is enjoying
at Arsenal, but admits that he was snubbed by Barcelona
before making a move to Emirates Stadium. The 18-year-
old’s potential was spotted by those at Camp Nou before
the Gunners joined the chase for his signature. A trial
spell was taken in with the LaLiga giants, but no offer was
put to him.

FLAGGED DOWN
West Ham have banned a fan for revealing an anti-board
T-shirt while he was a pitchside flag bearer. Cameron
Robson, 23, managed to land the gig waving a giant club
flag before West Ham’s Premier League match against
Liverpool — then turned it into a dig at the Hammers top
brass. But the Hammers cracked down on the brazen
protester - banning him from all West Ham games - home
or away - for the rest of the season.

SARRI FOR BEING

BORING
Maurizio Sarri has seen his
training methods branded
“monotonous”, with Mateo
Kovacic pleased to have seen
Chelsea move on from the current Juventus boss and
appoint “exceptional” Frank Lampard. The Blues spent
just one season working under the enigmatic Italian
coach. Sarri delivered Europa League success during his
solitary campaign in England, but opted to head back to
his homeland in the summer of 2019.

I’M SO HAPPY
Odion Ighalo has made
no secret about living the
dream as a Manchester
United player. The Red
Devils surprised everyone
with a shock transfer
deadline-day move to
bring the Nigerian striker
in on loan until the end
of the season. Now he
has provided another
throwback of his admiration
for United by sharing a
photo of him on tour at
Old Trafford way back in

  1. He was out on loan at
    the time with Spanish side
    Granada from Udinese still
    awaiting his big break.

SAVED FROM DROWNING
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson christened Monique Salum

  • the wife of Manchester United midfielder Fred – his
Brazilian international teammate, having done the same
to Roberto Firmino earlier. Alisson has been leading
baptisms with his wife, Natalia, in the swimming pool of
their home. A video uploaded to Monique’s Instagram
profile shows Alisson and Natalia dunking her head into
    the water alongside a pastor.

AROUND ENGLAND

“It’s true that I’d have preferred it if
he’d told me directly, there’s no need
to say it in front of everybody. After
that, you definitely want to prove him
wrong. He didn’t start me during the
first few games and each time I came on,
I scored” – Manchester United forward
Anthony Martial admits he didn’t like his
former manager Jose Mourinho calling
him out in public.

“I was proud to have a club like Liverpool
after me, but I chose Arsenal because
of Unai Emery and how he was with me.
Right now, I wouldn't fit in at Liverpool
very well.” – Real Madrid-owned Dani
Ceballos reveals that his decision to
turn down a loan move to European
champions Liverpool in favor of Arsenal
was reached in part due to the style of
play employed by those at Anfield.

“I especially want us to be remembered
like the Barcelona team which won all
those trophies. Why should we not? I
think we can do it — and I want to be
remembered as one of the best teams
that ever played. Not only for this year
but for many, many years.” – Dejan
Lovren challenges his Liverpool team-
mates to embark on a Barcelona-style
trophy spree.

Since the start
of the 2016-17
season, Spurs’
Son Heung-Min
has scored more
goals than any
other player in the
FA Cup - netting
11 goals in 17
appearances.
As of February 9,
Manchester City
have failed to
score 4 of the last
6 penalties they
have taken across
all competitions,
with 3 different
players accounting
for these spot
kicks (Gabriel
Jesus x2, Sterling
and Gundogan).
