HOW TO Make the most of AutoFill

1

Do it automatically
Unless you’ve disabled password AutoFill,
Safari will detect when a site wants you to
create a password and will do it for you. It’s
best to use Safari for this; the browser in
some apps doesn’t always provide autofill.

2

Share it securely
When you let Safari create a password
or enter one manually, it will automatically be
added to your AutoFill collection. That means
it’ll be available on any device that has iCloud
Keychain enabled, such as your iPhone.

3

Know where to go
Saved passwords are added to your
AutoFill library. You can search this to see and
copy your passwords, or to remove obsolete
entries. You’ll find it in Settings > Passwords &
Accounts > Website & App Passwords.

4

Find the right ID
Over time you’ll probably find that you
amass hundreds of passwords. Thankfully you
can search the list of passwords to find what
you’re looking for: just enter a few letters and
the list will be filtered accordingly.

5

AutoFill everything
You can also get Safari to fill out forms
with your contact information, or to store and
use credit card details for online shopping.
That information is stored in a slightly different
place: Settings > Safari > AutoFill.

6

Add card details
You can add card details by entering the
details manually or by using your device’s
camera and letting iPadOS’s character
recognition do its thing. To pay, you’ll need to
prove you’re you with Touch ID or Face ID.

Genius tip!
Check your saved
passwords every so
often to check if you’re
using any password
on more than one site:
if you are, you’ll see a
warning triangle.

lowercase, numbers
and symbols.
