The license number
Of great importance for an aircraft is its license
number. This is precisely provided by the aircraft licensing
ordinance. The technical instructions also make explicit
mention about how this has to look. Important: It must be
legible and easily recognized when the aircraft is in the
air flying. This is where we see the plotted transparencies,
which I had taped on and simply spayed with an ”illumina-
ting“ white. Afterwards, I switched the transparencies and
taped up the interior triangle and the edge of the circle in
order to then be able to color the three remaining elements
of the circle red.

Preparing the flag
For the flag, I proceeded with-
out using the projector. Here I placed
my faith in my own feeling for the
work. I drew the flag again with a
white colored marker and tried to have
it allocated properly with the helicop-
ter airframe and the main motifs. Small
tip: When doing this kind of thing, it
is important that you always go back
a few steps so as to be able to main-
tain an overview of the work. When
it came to the eagle, the mountain,
and the aircraft license number, I left
things correspondingly interrupted or
running. Towards the tail of the flag,
I ended up spontaneously deciding on
having the flag ripped up so as to give
the whole design more of a dynamic
look. I generally taped up things here
on a more widespread scale, so as not
to create any overspray.

White priming for the
flag
To lighten everything up a bit, I’ve made
use of the white paint again. In the mid-
section, I’ve added another 2-3 layers so
that I get a “shiny” white in this area.
Once the paint had dried, I could tape
up the middle section of the length and
then I continue with red...
