Versatility of the paint
kit
At the time of the publication of this
article I was still researching and recor-
ding color swatches and samples based
on the Munsell color system using the
paint in this kit.  Having recently com-
pleted a project where I was required
to mix a specific pallet of color and air-
brush a set of tins for a motorcycle for
a popular American TV show, I found
that the versatility and linear mapping
of the colors of this kit to be very acces-
sible and easy to find and fast!

Using the Palettes 9.1 app

mentioned at the beginning of this ar-

ticle, I again used this image and pulled

a pallet from it where I have cross re-

ference my color chart to the palette

and matched up specific colors for this

third color study that I put together. 

For example, I have isolated two oran-

ge values mixed together by combining

my magenta and yellow CMYK illustra-

tion colors and mixed accordingly to

the Munsell color system using my one

through nine neutral gray values.

Endless possibilities

In this photo like the painting

prior I have built it similarly using my

CMYK transparent layer in process.

I am finding that a combination of a

transparent process along with the

ability to match those specific colors

with opaque passes of paint makes for

an endless stream of possibilities with

regard to detail and color matching –

all accessible from this one paint kit. 

While no system is perfect in applica-

tion, I’m finding that this one is pretty

close. Stay tuned as I am still learning

all of the practical and accessible appli-

cations of this paint kit. Look for the

release of a color recipe book with the-

se formulas soon.

And lastly...
