Detailing the trees
For the trees located on the
left hand side, I use the blue-gray color.
The closer I come to them, the darker
they become. I achieve this effect with
dark blue, but without any black. On
the right side of the tank, I spray the
trees with dark green as a base color
hue. While doing this, I start with the
trunk and then paint the branches, be-
ginning from the top with dark green.
In the second step, I use light green for
the lights and the details of the twigs
and branches.

Brush work
Now it’s time for the detailed work and some more
paints. Using a fine paintbrush, I add some more sharp tree
trunks. I paint the darkest shadows of the pine trees with
black. Using a very light green, I paint the lightest points of
the branches. The trees located closest to us now have more

contrast. I’ve begun painting the pine on the trunk. When
I paint the branches, I move the airbrush in the direction
that the needles grow. Once the base is created, I paint the
smallest details with the paintbrush. That works best when
you’d like to paint pines.

Owl
After I’ve completed all of the
trees, I decided to add another owl.
Using transparent masking film, I tape
up an area in the pine, cut out the form
of the owl and spray it with white.
Using that paintbrush, I then paint the
eyes, wings, and claws. I spray on some
more highlights as well as the shadows
using the airbrush. For my brushing
works, I prefer to use a short, fine, and
sharp paintbrush.

Transporter ray from
the UFO
I first establish the “transporter ray“
with a very strongly diluted white and
then color it in with transparent paints.
For this, I spray in soft progressions of
Lime Gold, Organic Green, teal, and

purple on top of the white. In conclu-
sion, I spray the transition from the ray
of light to the sky with cobalt blue.
Once I’ve finished up with the trans-
porter ray, I add another coat of clear
varnish to the tank to save my most re-
cent results.
