Eurasian Curlew
Binomial Name: Numenius arquata
The Eurasian Curlew is a common migratory bird in Bangladesh. They come to our countryin a severe winter from the Siberian region and return as early as April. It usually roams
the countryside on muddy and sandy beaches. In addition, they can be found wanderingaround in tidal zones, water bodies near mangrove forests, and river estuaries. They roam
in both salty and freshwater. They stop hunting before dusk. Most go hunting alone or inpairs. The long, curved beak is inserted into soft soil or rocks to extract insects. They also
roam with other species of shorebirds. The food list includes earthworms, shrimp, and
invertebrates. During breeding, they also eat grasshoppers, small amphibians, and rodents.During the breeding season of May-June, eggs are laid in the grassy areas of the Siberian
region without scattering anything.
