Coppersmith Barbet, Crimson-breasted Barbet
Binomial Name: Megalaima haemacephala
The Coppersmith Barbet is a small green arboreal bird. The bird is a common resident bird ofBangladesh. It is found everywhere in all parts of the country, including the Sundarban. They
can be seen in deciduous forests, vegetation areas, roadside vegetation, village groves, andeven in urban gardens alone, in pairs, or mixed groups of fruit-bearing birds. They can fly very
fast and straight. During the breeding season from November to June, they dig deep holes inthe tree branches and lay their eggs.
