White-throated Kingfisher, White-breasted Kingfisher
Binomial Name: Halcyon smyrnensis
Suddenly it seems that the bird is wearing a shirt. Ornithologists call it the White-throatedKingfisher. The White-throated Kingfisher is a common resident bird of Bangladesh. Its
wandering can be seen in all the water bodies and villages of Bangladesh's divisions. TheWhite-throated Kingfisher roams alone or in pairs. They roam the edge of forests, arable
lands, gardens, dry deciduous forests, reservoirs, rivers, canals, ditches, small ponds invillages, sewers, coasts, and mangrove forests. Observe prey on the ground or in the water
while sitting on a pole or tree branch. The diet includes insects, grasshoppers, crickets,
beetles, ants, winged wasps, and locusts.
