Chestnut-winged Cuckoo
Binomial Name: Clamator coromandus
The Chestnut-winged Cuckoo is the largest of the 12 species of Cuckoo inBangladesh. This bird, which can be seen in the forests of Dhaka, Khulna, and
Sylhet in summer, is an uncommon migratory bird of Bangladesh. Evergreenforests, moist deciduous forests, forests, and small shrubs are ideal for their
roaming. Usually travels alone or in isolated groups of up to four. It jumps from
stalk to stalk and eats food behind thick leaves. Its favorite food is caterpillars.They are found in Bangladesh during the breeding season of May-August. The
bird is a migratory breeder in Bangladesh. None of the 12 species of cuckoo foundin the country know how to make nests, and they lay their eggs in the nests of
other birds. The female chestnut-winged cuckoo also lays eggs on the nests of
Laughingthrush. A Laughingthrush mother lays eggs and raises chicks.
