Craft Stamper – July 2019

(Barry) #1
Quarter Wreath Stamp
Stamp designed and carved by Molly Westcott
This stamp is one of my more complex designs to carve as the foliage is all quite close
together. A lot of the time I will have to go back and re-adjust designs because there are
elements of them that won’t work when turned into a stamp. Leaves for example, quite
often have to have fairly simple patterns in them as detailed veining looks beautiful on
paper but can be messy and lack definition in rubber.
Small delicate cuts are always the key when it comes to removing the inside of the
leaves like the ones in this stamp. Often I use a craft knife to get into the really small
corners to make sure they come to a neat, crisp point.

details the inspiration behind her stunning designs!

“When thinking up this
stamp, I wanted to create a
design that could be used
in multiple ways, when
printed twice a half wreath
is formed, four times and a
full wreath is formed.”

Meet the Retailer,
Delightfully Chaotic Co.

The Delightfully Chaotic Company
is a small stamp carving and lino
printing business based in North
Devon. Each of my stamps are
designed by me (Molly Westcott)
and then carefully hand-carved,
before being mounted on a hand
cut wooden mount. They are then
placed inside drawstring bags
which are made from the off cuts
of fabrics left over from other
projects.
